HOOLIGANSKIDS INFO

 Hooliganskids Clothing & Accessories
Hooligans have gained their offical Fair Trade status with COFTA and are passionate about their ideals.
We asked Hooligans their views on fair working practises and how they can make a difference
"What do we think is FAIR in Africa? What is Fair Trade to Hooligans? Why we think we are different!
We have over the years learnt that working with people from previously disadvantaged communities means much more than the bottom line of profit. For workers to clock in day after day on time it often means pulling themselves away from a home in which they are the single female household providers. Others come to work with bruises that are caused by spousal abuse. Children are left to their own devices while mothers work.
With this very "close to our heart" fact , Hooligans embarked on a decided course of action to help these woman gain the respect they deserve. After all , the passion that goes into making the wonderful clothing we design , comes only from a special person, which each and every one of the Hooligans 'helpers" are.
Weekly counseling has been scheduled for an outside advice desk to counsel workers. This has seen an unprecedented 'empowerment" take place amongst the proud ladies!
Not only that , through our affiliation and monitoring of their co-operative we have put in place fair trade practices which sees them have a say in prices set in the market place. No worker earns less for their piece than what is pre-agreed on. They assist with the costings and a customer can rest assured that what they are buying has not been at the disadvantage of a human being's basic rights to a fair wage.
The "Worker of the Month" cash prize has seen a portion of their prize being donated to our "Compassion Fund" and we match that amount. Applications are then forwarded to a committee appointed by themselves which sees the funds distributed to the most needy , be it a lack of sanitation , school fees or emergency medical funds of the qualifying worker.
Through our social investment into the Co-operative , not only are we seeing more smiles as lives improved , but also a compassion of fellow worker.

Meet the creators of the Rag Dolls

The Rag Dolls have been throughly tested in a UK testing house and are CE marked.

One of the questions when buying toys is "where did this toy come from?"

We all want to know that the toy we give to our child has been made in an ethical way and by people who are treated and paid fairly.

You can be assured that your Rag Doll has been made to the very highest standards by a workers co-operative. Each doll has a tag with the name of the worker that hand made the doll.

Below is a brief resume of some of the Hooligans' workers. Some of the ladies did not want to appear on this website, and we have obviously respected their privacy but if you would like some more information on a particular lady please do email us on merrygorounduk@btconnect.com and we will ask Adri & Wayne ,the inspiration behind Hooliganskids,  to get some information for you
